Room A/B/CJoin us for this informative series with the first of three local artists sponsored by the Deerfield Fine Arts Commission. Last but not least, artist Leslie Outten.
Leslie Outten has been an involved Deerfield resident for almost 50 years. She accompanied her three children through the Deerfield School system donating time and energy to enhance programs through leadership as PTO President and Chairperson of many committees from Elementary through High School. Leslie’s journey in art is a fish tail of experiences including cake decorating, holiday window painting, creating stencils for lamps and vases, illustrating holiday cards and more.
After her children began leaving the nest, Leslie followed her bliss and pursued a formal art education at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Feeling uncomfortable knowing she’d be one of the older students in art school, her eldest child’s words of encouragement was, “Remember Grandma Moses!”
Today, Leslie Outten is classified as a Representational Artist and Calligrapher, winning awards, exhibiting and selling in both genres.
Leslie is looking forward to sharing her art journey along with a demonstration on her work process at the Deerfield Library.
